Our Team

Bringing together decades of experience and the best insurance team around (see bios), Dan Costello and Peter Schmale started the agency in 2005. Farallone Pacific is all about community: It's more than just a word to us-it describes who we are, why we exist, and what we're working to build.

• We're a group who actively volunteers: We clean up beaches, serve meals at homeless shelters, tutor prisoners, hand out school backpacks to underprivileged children, deliver flowers to seniors, and more. We give employees paid time off to make a difference in their local community. It's part of our culture and our benefits, and the way we choose to make a real difference in our lives-and the lives of others.
• We operate in ways that solve environmental problems and are proud to be the North Bay's first "Green Certified" insurance agency. It's an honor we earned by adopting eco-friendly principles, policies and practices.
• We put more of our money where our heart is by creating Farallone Pacific Gives to support nonprofits and schools. It's an easy-to-use program that helps them generate funds for their important social, educational and environmental work.

The "Mystery" Behind our Name

We're often asked about our name. We didn't name the firm Farallone Pacific because of the outer islands of the San Francisco Bay. We named it to represent the characteristics of a boat Peter Schmale frequently sails.

This 71-year-old wooden Farallone Clipper exhibits the timeless beauty of sleek, older vessels. When it was first built, there was nothing like it on the water-sturdy and fast enough to not only sail the ocean, but also endure the bay's strong winds. The ability to navigate it all is why we're Farallone Pacific Insurance Services.

When we started the firm, our goal was to be unique and specialize in what we do. Today, our commitment to that goal remains the same: helping clients successfully manage risk with valuable coverage options and unmatched personal service.
